We are currently in need of a Child Youth & School Services Outreach Specialist whose job duties are as follows: * Works under the general guidance of the AR CYSS Program Manager, but must be capable of working independently without direct supervision and with Regional Support Command (RSC), Operational and Functional commands and other Family Program personnel to support Soldiers and Families in a group of units potentially dispersed across a large geographical area/states. * Act as the primary advisor to Regional Support Commands/major subordinate units, O&F commands on all matters relating to CYSS. * Assists AR Families obtain access to child care, youth supervision and other related military and civilian resources to include, but not limited to, National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), e.g., Operation Military Child Care (OMCC), Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood, Army School-Age Programs in Your Neighborhood, special events and respite child care, etc.; Boys and Girls Clubs of America, 4-H, Armed Services YMCA, and Operation Military Kids (OMK). * Coordinate provision of child care/youth supervision options for special events (unit sponsored, Chaplain and/or Behavioral Health Professional training), e.g., Family Days, Marriage Enrichment Retreats, Mobilization and Reunion Briefings, Commanders Conferences and Family Readiness Groups. * Communicate with AR Families initiatives in place for support through the ARFORGEN cycle, deployment, mobilizations via briefings, small group workshops/sessions, newsletters and special events presentations, e.g., Family Days, Yellow Ribbon activities, Family Readiness Groups. Make recommendations for future support initiatives based on best practices, research findings and local assessments. * Coordinate and serve as support staff for Army Reserve Enrichment Camps (AREC), Youth Education and Leadership (YLEAD) summits, and Army Reserve Teen Panel meetings. * Work collaboratively with local and regional AR commands/units (and where appropriate Active Component) and military and civilian family program resources, (e.g., School Support Specialist, Family Program Directors, FPAs, ACS, SOS, RCC, Financial Counselors, FRSAs, chaplains, Behavioral Health personnel, etc.) to identify and develop service responses to the unique service needs of geographically dispersed Army personnel and makes referrals. * Provide technical assistance and training on CYSS and Army Reserve Family Programs and initiatives. * Develop, plan and execute training on CYSS programs and initiatives; facilitate small groups/focus groups. * Collect data and prepares required AR CYSS reports, surveys and other correspondence for; provides input to the AR CYSS Strategic Operations and Communication/Marketing Plan. * Serve as a member of command/unit Family Program team and other appropriate committees, taskforces, councils, e.g., State OMK team, ISFAC, etc. * Remains current and knowledgeable on trends, research findings/outcomes, initiatives, best practices and resources to support geographically dispersed personnel through partnerships with local, state, regional and national organizations, i.e., Military Child Education Coalition, 4-H, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Military Impacted Schools Association, DoDEA, NACCRRA, National Military Family Association, AUSA, etc.
* Successful completion of a 4-year college or university degree with a major course of study/substantial course work, which directly relates to the tasks incumbent to the position, e.g., early childhood, youth development, education, human development, education administration, social sciences, etc. - Masters Degree is preferred. * Minimum of three years of work experience directly related to the tasks incumbent to the position. * The ability to communicate in verbally and in writing in English. Ability to speak Spanish desired in certain geographic locations. * Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse populations and an understanding of the military lifestyle/culture. * A valid driver’s license is required.
